B Anti Surge Throttle Spring

The manifold gasket has been removed so it doesn't show. If you are going to hook the spring over the stud before you install the manifold, be sure to install the gasket first before the spring. Otherwise, just slip it up behind the manifold afterwards.

We had a D14 that surged under load once - turned out it was the carb float set too low. Set it right and it ran fine.

I don't know since I am only familiar with the B model. That's the only AC Dad had and the only one I now have. I know that spring is also on the C since the C is covered in the B-C parts book. Take a look at the carburetor linkage not far from the connection with the carburetor and see if there is a small hole through it where a spring might attach. That might give you a idea. Hopefully someone that knows the WD45 (or has a WD45 parts book) will chime in with the answer.

Yes, that spring is still available new.

I got one a couple of years ago at a local supplier of AC parts (used to be a dealer many years ago). I am sure any AGCO ALLIS dealer would have them and also other places that have sources for AC parts would either have them or could get them. As I recall that spring was pretty pricey for what it is though :o).

Yes, correct. Thank you for noting that. It's something I missed. I see that both springs have the same appearance in the parts book, although both are shown to be upside down :o). I wonder what the difference is...spring tension perhaps? An early parts book that I have shows a quite different looking spring indicated as part number U-3208, very similar to the 203208 mentioned for early tractors in the later parts book. I see also that the main governor springs are not the same either. That may be the reason why there are two different link springs, since they work together to a certain extent.
