People are confusing to types of tire sizing here. The 8.00 size that Old metioned does not convert to 8. While the 1951 Wards catalog does not specificly mention the 8.00 size it gives the conversions for 9.00 and that is 11 with the curant sizing at 12.4 for the same tire & 10.00 converts to 12 with curant sizing of 13.6 & 11.25 to 13 with curant sizing of 14.9. So using these conversions his 8.00 should have converted to 10 and that with the new sizing would be 11.4 to be the correct size with the next oversize at 12.4

The wider 11.2 will give you a better footprint for pulling a disc. The smaller narrower tire will tend to cut deeper tracks on fresh plowed ground. I have a larger size on one of my B's and an old set of 9's on the B I mow yard with. The ground speed is slower with the smaller tire which allows me to mow in second gear without over running the mower and stalling out the mower in heavy grass. If your cutting weeds, I would not think you would go wrong with the 11.2's for all your jobs. They should work fine for plowing as well.

Hi th,

My '42B has 11.2x24 tires on 8" rims as shown in the picture in my post below to tom. The 11.2 is a modern size designator for the older 10x24 which was an option on some Bs. Many had the narrower 8x24 that old mentions plus there also was a 9x24 size.

By what my manaul says stock rear tires where 8.00X24 so you might be able to go up to maybe 10X24 with stock rims

9.5 inch make the tractor look original. if you want it to look a little more "bulk" put the 10 inch on it. i have one of each, both look good.
