Larry,
We sell the Deka "701" 6V battery, and they seem to work fine, but like the fellows here mentioned, if you don't have the correct size cables for the 6V systems your loosing big time power. We make the correct size cables for most AC models if you think you may need them. Check all your connections at the starter motor, battery, and positive ground cable. These are all important on making the 6V system successful. Make sure that your engine is in tune also. They fire right up quickly and it's also easier on the battery as well as the cranking system....

I use welding cable that is for 300 amp. over a 100ft to build 6 volt battery cable. You will have a heart attack when you buy it but it will make 6 volts work.

Agreed. With 6 volts, every resistance has twice the negative affect on the amount of current the battery can deliver to the load. Get the FAT cables - have them custom-made if you must. Check where the ground cable bolts to the frame. It must be clean and tight here. Even corrosion or oxidation that is undectable to the eye can cause huge problems.

New fat cables mounted with clean and tight connections should do the trick.
