Is it recommended to use some type of trickle charger on an 6 volt battery for a Model B? If so, where can I pick one up and what type is better?

We sell a little charger called a "battery tender". Just hook it up to the battery of your B, and let her go. It shuts off automatically when the diode that's in the unit senses the battery is fully charged. When the battery's voltage drops down to a specific level, the battery tender turns itself back on and keeps the battery up. They're pretty inexpensive, and they work great! We sell quite a few to the antique car and street rod folks for winter or all year round storage. Drop us a line if interested...

Did not know that the B ever had a starter. None of the engines used on the combines did. But then my B has a serial number of 806.

go to Wal Mart and buy a 6-12 volt charger that has a max amperage about 4 or 6 amps. If will charge your 6 volt battery just fine, and alos can be used on the truck or lawn mower if needed.
