A guy I know tinkers with tractors and he bought a 180 repo'd from a bank. I think he got it pretty cheap and was planning to resell it. He was driving it around at his house and it kept jumping out of gear, so he is replacing the worn gears in the transmission. He thought he would sell it for 5500 - 6000 depending on how much the parts would cost. Tractor looks good, good rear rubber, poor front rubber, is this average price? I know nothing about allis, what should I look out for? I'm just needing another tractor to run a haybine and square baler, won't get used that hard. Thanks, Rob

The engine is a 301, but a wet sleve A-C engine out of the Harvey engine plant. Not a dry sleve Perkins as used in the 170/175. 180 plus's are the hydralicly engaged PTO, on the go shfting hi/lo range with neutral, traction booster hydraulics. The only thing to watch is the jumping out of gear, which you seem to have under control. One of the finest tractors of any brand evedr made!

Not a perkins...301 cu in Allis engine right out of Harvey, Illinois.

Good motor, pretty decent tractor. I am around one every day that has in excess of 10,000 hrs. It's had a couple sets of brakes and one transmission rebuild.

No engine work of any kind, including fuel system.

Sounds like a good price. Those 301CID Perkins engines were good engines, no problems.

That is the going price most anywhere for a 180 diesel. Yes they did jump out of gear when the got a little worn, but throw a turbo and a bigger set of tires on that thing and watch out.

from some of the prices I have seen that doesn't sound bad.
