Hydraulic Fluid for WD45? 10w30 just to get by??

I need to top off my Hydraulic Fluid. It is low. Actually to the bottom of the dipstick. I have heard that 10w30 will work. I am planning on changing it all to hydratrans come spring but I already have a case of 10w30 in my garage. Do you think I can use the 10w30 to at least get me through the snow season. It has been pretty cold off and on throughout the winter but today it is 40 degrees. I am using a grader blade to plow. Do you think it will hurt my system to use Mobil 10w30 until I am ready to change it out?

Oil or bust; Scrape up the money and have a friend or neighbor go into town for the proper
hydraulic oil. Your machine will never suspect you were gonna chince it and eventually you will
cover the loan and your pride will remain intact.

You can "get by" a while by putting water in it. That is even cheaper than your "on hand" 10W30 motor oil. Why do people pinch every penny when it comes to maintenance items, and then cry around the coffee shop about how much the resultant major repairs cost?? What a tight wad.

I agree foam oil is a bunch of BS we have used 10w 30 for years.

I think the "foaming oil" is a bunch of BS...
I have used 10/30 in my WD for over 10yrs now.
If you use hytrans in this system and it gets hot/thin the thru shaft seal WILL NOT be able to keep the thin hyd. oil out and it will overfill
the trans./rearend lube section. This will happen
unless you have a very tight shaft seal between
the trans. and hydraulic resivours.

Funny....all we have ever used in ours is 10/30 motor oil....!!! I figure it should be good for another 30 years or more.... and we bought them New...

I wouldn't do it....the 10w-30 is no doubt a detergent oil so it will foam up. This might cause cavitation in the pump and damage it. There must be somewhere you can find some 20w non-detergent to use.
