Hope your still on here Eldon. A while back I put up a post about my model B locking up, and you replied back that it might be a governor weight stuck in the timing gears.Well I finally got around to taking it apart tonite (too many other projects) and low and behold, you were right on the money. One governor weight is broken off at the hinges. Will it hurt to run it with just one weight? All I do with the tractor is mow in the summer and push a small blade in the winter,Its all restored so it doesnt see hard use or anything. Thanks for your input.

Thank you fellas. The engine started and quit while it was cold like it normally does, and the next time I cranked it it wouldnt move. So it happened at low rpm. Do Allis dealers sell gov. parts? are the expensive? Thanks again Guys!

Hey Terry...glad to hear that was the problem and that you were lucky enough to not take out a gear or two! Replace both weights and be safe - the other weight probably isn't too far from letting loose also. You probably won't be that lucky two times in a row.

Terry,
Color yourself lucky.....that there was no damage.....as any of the broken parts going into the gears will cause MAJOR damage to the engine. Besides, the engine will not operate without the governor, so the first order of the day is to find all of the broken parts, even if you have to remove the front timing cover and the oil pan.

Well I'm not Eldon but, if you run it like that it will be badly out of balance and probably not work well and maybe even mess the governor up more if not destory it
