Considering a purchase of an HD 6. Have not seen it yet but told it runs and works fine (loader). Has been used very little last few years but has been "sheded" when not in use. Question; What about track and undercarraige parts availability? Have no experience with tracked vehicle but could use one around here. Appreciate advise from value to maintenance. Bob

Production of the HD6 began around 1955. I've got a '56 dozer. Early machines are straight gear drive and later have a power-shift. HD6 was produced after AC had a sort of fight with Detroit Diesel and stopped using their 2-stroke diesel engines. They then took the HD5 and made it into the HD6 using the Buda 344 cubic inch four-stroke engine. Although the engine says "Allis Chalmers" on it, it was made by Buda. Buda Engine company is still in business and still makes and sell parts. That's where AGCO gets them. I've had no trouble getting parts. New-old-stock is available as well as newly produced stuff and also aftermarket. I've got an HD4 also, and have no problem getting parts for it either. Paid $5800 for the HD6 with a new paint job, ROPS, and basically in real nice shape. I see HD6G loaders often for around $3000-$4000. Paid $3600 for my HD4 dozer with 6 way blade - in size and power, it's more than a Deere 350 and less than a 450.

Am looking for late model HD6 dozer. Wide pads preferred. Good running condition. Price ,resonable. Thanks

The Buda Engine Co. was still in business a few months ago, in Louisiana. I bought some parts from them. I see, however, that their Website is down and wonder if they went out of business. Their Website was at budaengine.com Last time I ordered parts, they didn't come. Last contact info I have is:

Bob, i can get you started. the small Allis machines were the HD6 which was hydraulic dozer, and the 6G which was the track type loader, bucket on the front. You can still get aftermarket parts for both. I think the tractor was built in the early 1960-70 range in Springfield Illinois plant. check with the guys at ibdozing.com for more infor and others who have this tractor.
