DOES ANYONE HAVE A PICTURE OF A CA ALLIS 1953 MODEL AREA AROUND THE SET. ON THE RIGHT FINAL DRIVE IF YOU ARE SITTING IN THE SEAT THERE IS A HOLE IN THE HOUSING BETWEEN THE SHIFT LEVER AND THE RIGHT BRAKE BAND. I WONDER IS THIS A MISSING PART SUCH AS A HAND BRAKE LEVER OR SOMETHING SUCH AS A LEVER FOR A HI-LO RANGE. I CAN SEE IN THE HOLE AND THERE IS A CAM WITH TWO THREADED HOLES.
I NEED A PICTURE OR SOME ADVICE

THANKS
GEORGIA BOY

Georgia, the extra clutch on the axle will disengage travel and leave the pto running with the foot clutch engaged--- kind of like live hydraulics. either the hand lever is just gone and the clutch is engaged, or the clutch is shot and someone "welded" the thing up solid and removed the handle. need to stick a threaded rod in the hole and see if anything moves. im guessing it has been modified and is now locked solid.

WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING AT IS THE HAND CLUTCH
YOU ARE MISSING THE LEVER TO ACTIVATE THE CLUTCH AND STOP THE TRACTOR SO THE PTO AND HYDO KEEP WORKING. GIVING YOU WHAT IS CALLED "LIVE PTO"
GREAT LITTLE TRACTOR, LOTS OF POWER. I HAVE A 51 AND A 55. HOW ARE YOUR GEARS? MY 51 POPS OUT OF THIRD GEAR ON A DOWN HILL, NOT PULLING.
LOTS OF LUCK WITH THE CA. BOB

CHALMERSBOB

I'M NOT SURE ABOUT THE GEARS YET. THE TRACTOR HAS NOT RUN IN OVER 15 YEARS I AM IN THE MIDDLE OF A "RUST"ERATION AND NOT RUNNING YET. IF THE HAND CLUTCH HAS BEEN REMOVED I ASSUME THE TRACTOR CAN BE OPERATED. ANY SUGGESTIONS ON COVERING THE HOLE

SOUNDS LIKE THE HAND CLUTCH IS STILL THERE, JUST NEEDS THE LEVER. THE TRACTOR WILL WORK WITHOUT LEVER. MY 51 DIDN'T HAVE A LEVER AND I FOUND 1 ON EBAY. THE CLUTCH STILL DOESN'T WORK, HOWEVER, BUT I HAVEN'T WORKED ON IT YET. SOMETIMES THEY SLIPPED SO THE FARMER ADJUSTED IT UP TIGHT AND REMOVED THE HANDLE TO GET IT OUT OF HIS WAY.
MY 55 HAD A HANDLE ON IT BUT IT DIDN'T DISENGAGE IT, THEN ONE DAY I WAS PLOWING AND THE TRACTOR STARTED TO SLOW DOWN AND MAKE A CHATTERING SOUND
AFTER ABOUT THE THIRD TIME I PULLED THE HAND CLUTCH LEVER AND THE TRACTOR STOPPED. WHEN I RELEASED THE LEVER THE TRACTOR WORKED FINE AND HAS SINCE. I FIGURED IF WAS RUSTED FAST AND BROKE LOOSE WITH RUST PARTICLES IN BETWEEN AND THEY FELL FREE AND IT WORKS NOW LOL BOB
