When plowing in 50 degree or less temps, frost is accumulating at the neck of carb and the intake manifold. This condition is making the tractor run rough and dies after a few minutes. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

Vaporizing the gasoline takes a lot of heat and cools the manifold. At low air temp and high humidity, moisture condenses/freezes on the out side of the manifold and perhaps on the inside.

At that temperature, and with High Humidity, you will get more carb icing... I have never had mine ice up and give me any trouble tho... The manifold draws so much heat from the exhaust that it should not ice much...Frost on the outside may not indicate ice on the inside... I wonder if you don't have a leaning problem..?? I wouldn't think that the valves are set a little tight ( Hope Not)...!!!! The air cleaner is right behind the exhaust manifold, and is warmed by it and the warm air from the radiator, etc... If you don't have that hooked up, I would think it would ice up a lot more....

All carburators will have a 20 to 30 degree temperature drop across the venturi area when the engine is running and you get frost on the carb. You may have some water in your fuel that is turning to ice when it exits into the carbs venturi or you may be getting a lot of water vapor in the air flowing into the carb. When was the last time you serviced your oil bath air cleaner? They build up a lot of water in the oil cup and you could be drawing in a lot of wet air. You could add some gas line deicer for good measure. I like the stuff called ISO in the little red bottle. It is mostly isopropyl alcohol and is not corrosive like the other stuff that is methyl alcohol.
