I recently obtained an aftermarket set of rear rims that have four raised sections for the clamps to rest on. The stops for the one section are 4 inches apart, which seems excessive seeing that the clamp is only 3" long. The problem is that when the rim slipped under load, there is enough slippage that the clamps come close to coming off the raised section, and cock. Anyone else run into this? I'm thinking of welding another set of stops that are closer together, unless there's an easier fix. Thanks for any advice.

Oops, I have a 39 "B" that I am fixing up and just got a set of after market rims. I have just today, finished painting the clamps and am ready to order tires. I have not measured the one set of stops on the rims nor the width of the clamps. I do not really plan on using the ole girl for much work just playin. Will go out in the AM and measure. Would go now but its way to cold.

CHECK YOUR CLAMP ARRANGMENT. THE CLAMPS AT THE LOCKS SHOULD BE THE FIXED TYPE WHICH ARE SMALLER THE THE CAM LOCKS. MAYBE BY PUTTING A CAM LOCK CLAMP AT THE RIM LOCKS IT WILL TAKE UP THE SLOP.
JUST A THOUGHT LOL BOB
