Model B fuel lines

Were the fuel lines on a "B" steel or copper?

By the way, I've been saying I have a '39 and '41. Actually after getting them home yesterday ( I had the engine and other parts of the supposed '41 at home for a few weeks) the '41's serial number is B 3674 which makes it a '38. Talk about false advertising. I'm not taking it back.

Thanks

I have cleaned the paint off of the fuel line on my 1938 B (SN 4211) and found that it is a copper line. I can get pics of line if necessary as it is off tractor.

Thanks Fergy. I'll need to make up lines for both. If I can get an idea of the bends I can do a neater job. Could you run a tape measure next to it?

I take it you've got a MF 65, got me an '81 245.

Thanks again.

CH, Here is a pic of the length of the fuel line. The length is 14 3/4 inches end to end. The length would be longer without the bends. The fittings are approx 9/16 long by 3/8. You can also see the elbow that screws into the carb above the line. See next reply for another view. My grandfather actually has 2 1959 Massey-Ferguson 65 diesels. They are in the tractor photos section. Will hopefully start to restore soon.

We have pre-bent steel replacement fuel lines with fittings for B,IB,C, & CA models. The fuel line makes two 90 degree bends and runs behind the air cleaner, then a 45 degree to the fuel sediment bulb. Drop us a line if interested....

Here is another pic as it would be on the tractor from the left hand side. If you need any more pics I took a ton. E mail me at [email protected] and I will send them to you.

Thanks Scott,

That works. My 245 is my work tractor. Was going to stay with Masseys, Was looking for a TE or MF 35 but got a chance at these two "B's" for a couple of hundred. Variety is good. Don't tell my wife I said that "LOL". These old girls been keeping me out of the recliner at least. Been in my cellar shop for a month tearing down the 38's block and wire brushing the paint on every part I had off the 38.

Thanks again. As soon as I get some pictures developed I'll scan and post them (can't afford a fancy digital).

Charlie
