Alternator for Model C

I used a Delco 10SI internally regulated alternator on my '42 B. The 63 amp version from NAPA is NAPA#213-4011. It is a three wire alternator. They are real easy to wire up. I decided on the three wire version because I had read that those begin generating at a lower speed than the one wire version. That is important with the low engine speed of a B (or C). You will need a pigtail lead with plug if you go with the three wire style. The NAPA part number for that is Echlin#VRC148. The alternator comes without a drive pulley. Since you do not have a stock generator to steal the pulley off of (that's what I did) you can get a special small diameter pulley designed for the standard 5/8" wide v-belt that will fit directly onto the 10SI. That is available from parrautomotive.com. Do a search of their on-line catalog under the brand "Vintique". The Vintique part # is VIN-A-10130-ALT ($17.50+ship).

I custom fabricated the mounting brackets but I understand you can purchase them ready made from Steve at B&B Custom Circuits. I suspect he will be by sooner or later and offer some input also. I had to use a one inch longer v-belt than used for the original generator. I wound up using a NAPA 5L380W.
