I have a 1934 WC that was restored in 1974 ,but was left outside for the past 20 years. The shifter is frozen and I can not get it to shift into any gear. Any ideas on how to free this up so i can shift. I want to tow it to a garage so I can repair the engine , but i can not get it to move with the shifter frozen.

does your WC have the rear axle disconnect lever?
if so you should be able to disengage the transmission from the rear axle and move it with no problem.
I'm not sure if any of the early WC's had the disconnect

Is the boot on the shifter in good condition? If not you may have water in the transmission and it may have rusted the shift lever. And as someone said it could keep thegears from shifting too. You could take the cover/shift lever off and look in, may be able to move the gears to neutral this way if there is no hard water in the bottom of the transmission.

Try Sandy Lake Implement, think they are listed on this site somewhere. If not try searching on them.

Have the temps been below freezing? If so the ice will keep things from moving. Light some charcoal in a pan and put it under the tranny and thaw it out. If this isn't the problem, you will have to drag it around or put the rear wheels on skids. I use wafer board (osb) one piece on top of another. It is slippery stuff and slides easily on itself and grass.

Sounds like the main shaft may have some rust on it. Makes it hard for the gears to slide. Drain the trans and fill it up with diesel fuel, this will show you if you have any cracks in the casing. Fill it up over the gears, let it set for a while, take a rubber mallet and try to move the gears, Work at it a while and you should get everything moveing again.
