I have two ibs. One I can't read the serial no. The other one has a serial no. that is skipped. Does anyone know why there is a skip in the numbers? Thanks for any help.

I should have explained better. In 1953 the serial numbers went from 2570 to 2847. In 1954 it only shows the number 3068. Could 3068 be the last one made? Mine is 2896.

yea, i have noted that too. also wondered what happened. think i came to same conclusion you did. might check serial numbers on the other site, i never did that. mine is a sn 25xx mid 1952. 53 and 54 always looked odd.

they were punched by hand. numbers are not exactly symetric. does it have the right number of digits? might just be a normal space.
