I'm wondering if anyone can help me find a good used cylinder head for a A-C D17 diesel casting #4507716 or a place to get a cracked one welded.

To replace it you'll need to know if it's an early or late style head. I know you gave the # but I don't have the book in front of me. As far as cracks go, all these heads had cracks, however as long as they were'nt cracked around the seats as mentioned by HD19 or right through where your head gasket seals they will usually test good and be OK. Mine looked cracked bad but after replaceing the valve seats from years of rust and exposer it sealed fine and runs great. Dave.

Depends where and how bad your cracks are. If they are right over the hole where the fuel is sprayed across into the energy cell chamber, not bad, but cracked in or around valve seat areas, not good. Had head planed to take warpage out, there is a specific height that those heads can be shaved, or so I was told. Hope you luck out. jerry
