I am planning on replacing the manifold on my B sometime this winter. I did this previously about 30 years ago but can't remember one thing: are the mounting studs installed in blind holes or do they penetrate into the water jacket? I suspect one or more of the studs will unscrew from the block rather than the rusted nut coming off the stud. I would hate to have any surprises :o).

Thanks,

Well you could cut the nuts off and then clean the threads with a die and avoid the whole problem. Unless the studs are rusted thin and you want to replace them. By cut the nuts off I mean use a Dremal tool and abrasive wheel or some such tool. I don't mean beat on them with a cold chisel. Heating them red may make them come off too.

They don't go into the jacket.
