I have a 1973 AC 170 & it popsout of 2nd & 3rd gear. I have not changed the tran. oil yet & not sure if it would help. Any idea's??
If it is the gears where could I find them?

Two gears doesn't sound good. What you could try is changing the slots for the detent balls to pull the gears in a little deeper. i did this on a 180 with success for third gear. Good luck

Neighbor had this problem with reverse and one of his forward gears. Was able to access the transmission by removing the plate above the transmission. Got the parts from the local dealer, so they are available. He repaired it himself (I of course helped by watching a bit). Dave

Tom , my 170 (1968) started doing that also. In third gear (high&low), the rest OK.After many years of use, it is time to split her open & repair. Parts should be ok to come by thur dealer.Just kinda wiating for warmer weather. Eddie

I have a 200 that does it in third if i am rolling down hill and no load , need to split it but arghhhh , if i just had the time....let me know what you find out ..i.e.. cost , what caused it , how hard to repair
