A friend of mine recently aquired an Allis B (1940) and was hoping to change the coolant but couldn't find the drain. Where is this located? Thanks, SAm in NS

Sam,
The block drain is usually right behind the carb on the side of the block. On my B, it's a long tube with a petcock and is part of the tube. Sometimes if the petcocks wear out, a pipe plug is put in it's place, so you won't see the drain because it's behind the carb. Also, if it still has the OEM steel lower coolant pipe, (under generator) there should be a petcock located in that pipe for draining. Sometimes those pipes rot out and they are replaced with just a hose. The petcock faces in towards the lower pulley. We make those pipes repro with petcock if your buddy needs one. HTH.
