I am looking at buying an AC 5050. It is ser. number 599230. 1920 hours. looks and sounds good. Fiat built. Seller wants $4800. Is this a good tractor. Are parts available? What are the good points and bad points of this tractor?

Seller says that it is a 1985 model. Does that sound right?

Thanks in advance,

Shawn

in my book it says the serial number for 1983 started at 599191. one part of the book says they stopped in 1983, another says they stopped in 1984 price sounds ok, depends on condition you know. oly

I have had a 5050 for about 8 years on 50ac.no problems to this date. a little hard to start in winter but other than that its a great old tractor.

Today's Featured Article - Massey Ferguson 35 (and up) Tractor Assembly Notes - by Jack Wetmore. These assembly notes are for Massey Ferguson tractors with a two stage clutch and 6 speed, 8 speed and mutli-power transmissions. I see a lot of discussion forum messages regarding damaged clutches from improper assembly. The objective is to have the engine and transmission slide together safely and easily until the gap between the two halves is less than 1/4", BEFORE tightening any of the bolts holding the two together. Using bolts to draw the two halves together will damage the PTO ... [Read Article]
