12 is good. are you using 10W 30 oil or something else? as it heats up it may drop to 10, thats o.k.

take the brass tee off the top of the 1/8 inch pipe nipple coming out of the pump, up the back side of the motor. stick a oil gun nozzle into the tube and squirt it 20 times to fill the tube and the pump. put the tee back on and start motor. if no psi, take the tee off again, put on a rubber hose and stick in a bucket. start motor for 15 seconds and see if you get oil out of the pump squirting into the bucket. that will determine if pump is bad, or lose of oil in the filter. did you put the vanes in the pump right side up? was the suction tube for pump clean and tight and stuck into bottom of oil pan with the screen on it?

Rick: Don't know if is your pump or you are missing the riser tube in the oil filter housing, oil pressure goes down if it is missing. Two years ago I got a new pump from the AGCO dealer but be ready for sticker shock, it was about $250.00 but works great. Check your old filter and see if there is a small metal tube in the old filter (about the size of a pencil), if there is it goes in the filter housing to maintain oil pressure. There was a thread a few months back talking about different brands of filters and what they can do to your oil pressure.

Rick,
If you're using a newer style Wix/Napa oil filter, the new oil filters are known to drop oil pressure to zippo. The revised 1101 Napa is the filter causing all the heart attacks. Most other filter brands such as Balwin, Fleetguard, & Fram are fine. We carry Fram C159's, and have no troubles with oil pressure drop or loss. As for the center tube that Steve mentioned, if your's is missing, we have new one's in stock if ya need one. Good Luck, hope it's nothin serious.....

If you don't see rag or thread material thought a perforated metal surface on the bottom of the filter it is the wrong type. Can cause low pressure, but you should have some even so I would think. Maybe some grease in the pump gears to help prime?
