AC 185 PTO still spins when disengaged

The pto shaft on my 185 sometimes continues to spin when the control lever is turned off. This is definitely not safe and makes me nervous since it is still carrying a bit of torque. It will spin the mower deck as well as the post hole auger (even with the end set on the ground, won't stop until it grabs some dirt).
Is it related to the hydraulic pressure? Leaky seal in the control valve? Weak springs in the clutch assembly?
Any recommendations on how to fix it?

Is the control lever in the brake or in the disengaged position? The pto will spin unless the brake is applied. I'm assuming you have the hydraulic pto. On my 190 I sometines have to engage the power director in order to get the pto brake to engage. Not enought back pressure otherwise.

Yes, I do have the hydraulic pto. Which is the disengaged and which is the brake position? My owners manual doesn't say anything about it. And what do you mean by "engage the power director"?
Thanks for your help.

Scott, you could have a couple of possibilites for your problem. 1. Most likely you have warped clutch discs in the clutch pack, if they are warped enough and the drum brakes are worn, your shaft will continue to turn. 2. Possibly your valve has leakage, and is not completely stopping flow to the clutch pack, you would have to hook a psi gauge to the test port to find out, but most likely you have problem one. If you have other questions, feel free to email me.
