39' B hydraulics ????

i am restoring a 39 b. appears to have a small hydraulic valve with a piece of linkage mounted at the right side of the pto.what is this unit and do i actually need this?i would like to keep this tractor as simple as possible.thanks for any help.

Dave, you can take off the 4 small bolts, about 5/16 that hold the small valve/pump onto the PTO housing. if you need a photo of the the area send me a note. it has a suction tube and two cam lobes that will lift out with it. put in a box and bolt a 1/8 inch flat plate over the hole. that iw what the "simple tractor" looked like. if you want to sell the pump and trade for the standard cover palte, give me a call. spotter@frontiernet.net

You guessed correctly. It's a hydraulic valve. Under there is a pump. The B had optional hydraulics. It's a nice thing to have, and required if you want to put one of our aftermarket 3 pts on it. To keep it simple, just don't use it. Be sure to keep your trans/hyd fluid up, as it is liekely to weep a little fluid without a cylinder hooked up.
