when I push in the foot clutch it does not disengauge immediatly. I can touch the brake and it will stop. I am talking about the dry clutch. Tis a pain when shifting gears if shifting from nutral sometimes I have to shut the tractor off. This is a tractor that sees daily use, What is wrong and can I fix it? I am using him to feed cows.

Nebraska, often the quick fix of simply slipping the clutch enough to warm it up enough to burn it clear and self clean is good enough. But do it with moderation just to get it to turn loose adequately for that does wear on the clutch a bit.

Also, that rear main seal, if that's where you're leaking, can be fixed fairly easily by dropping the pan, removing that back main bottom half and rolling that old felt out of the top, and replace with new seals in the upper and lower half of the back main. There are tools to help you do that short cut deal available if you want to get into it without a bigger crank dropping job. Depends on how much this is bothering you though. God Bless

the engine rear seal or wick is dripping slowly and the oil builds up on the clutch plates and causes them to drag. when you bump the brakes it jars it loose. pull the starter motor and spray dishwasher soap and water with a weed sprayer all over everything. if you have a drain hole under the clutch, like the B and C, then spray soap up this area too. hold the clutch pedal down to keep the plates apart and spray the soap over everything. dont hurt to stick the gardern hose in there and shoot around after ward. use lots of soap and wash plates off good. should be o.k. for another 20 years.

yup steve, it drips oil all the time. I'll try the soap trick. I like simple green degeaser so might try that. Better do it today while it is warm. :') Frosty's commin'

My WD acts like that in cold weather unless I use it long enough to warm up the transmission good. It will also do that when the transmission gear oil gets low. If you have not checked this already I would suggest doing so before trying anything major.
