I am looking for a good little tractor to mow with. I can buy locally an Allis-Chalmers C, WFE, PTO and mower for $1200. Decent tires, paint and runs real good. What do you think? Thanks.

Price depends some on where you are. Here in Md.that is a very good price, could easily sell for twice that. Same for the CA. I would look at the wide front, last several C or CA's I went to look at with wide fronts were B tractors from the torque tube forward.

C is as indestructible as the B ,only more powerful.

Mark, The C Allis with a mower is a good little mowing tractor. If it runs as good as you say and looks good too, then for 1200.00 I would jump right on it,because around here in central MO. that's a real good price, especially with the wide front end! They range anywhere from 1500.00 - 2500.00 here. Hope this helps. Rick

Rick, I can buy a wide front CA for $1100, three point and runs good, paint is weak. Is the CA more desirable than the C?

Dancingdog, Yes,the CA is a more desirable tractor normally than the C Allis, since it has the 4 speed tranny, hand clutch and also the power adjust rims, just to name a few things. If you can get one picked up for 1100.00,I'd say you'd better go and get it! Especially if it's got the wide front end and three point on it already and runs real good. Rick

Sounds a little high, but if the tires are very good it is probably worth it
