Hi Gang,
I have a tractor in my shop that I am fixing and painting but I'm now stuck because I need some parts and can't identify what model tractor I have.
The number 12-2544-R is stamped on the left side of the engine block flange that bolts up to the bell housing. Pardon me if my names for some of these parts are wrong as this is my first venture into the world of tractors. This is an actual stamped number not a cast in number.

The second stamped number I found is on what I would describe as the bell housing. It is D 104436.
The last number I found is on the front of the transaxle. It is 460 693.
In reading some of these websites in trying to determine the model of this tractor I read where at a certain year A-C changed from a A-C built engine to a Continental engine. I thought this might help me determine the model and year of the tractor. What I don't know is are both engines identical or are there specific traits of each engine allowing one to determine which is which? If they are different, where do I find the information so I can determine what I have. I enjoy searching on the websites for these tractors but I keep going in a circle because I don't have a key piece of information to start with.
Any and all help is appreciated. If I need to provide pictures, I can do that. I feel I need a starting point to solve my mystery.
Thanks, Bob De

Bob, i believe you have a D10- serial number 4436. the D series was stamped on the bell hoursing, left side, just behind the motot. The number ont he block just forward of this is the motor serial number. Look to the left of this page under "gallaries", then "Tractor photots" then type in D10 or Allis and look thru the photos. Your tractor was built about 1962. It is a nice little tractor and is somewhat of a collectors item among Allis people. A poor condition unit can bring $1500. a nice rebuild with new paint might be $3500 or a little more, depending on the paint and tires condition.

Looks like an Allis model D10 s/n 4436 (built in late 1961) as indicated by the number on the torque tube flange. They had the same engines as the D12 as indicated by the number on the engine flange.
