I have just obtained my first Tractor to restore, it is a 1948 Allis Chalmers C. The fuel tank is rusted through on the bottom, can these be repaired? Are there used ones about? Any help would be appriciated

If your tank rustout is limited to pinholes or faulty seam go ahead and coat with sealer. Qwik Poly and a Napa product are also available. If the rust out is severe get a replacement tank. My advice is to clean the replacement and use a poly sealer. You will have a clean gas flow for many years.

They make some stuff that you put in them and shake it around and it fixs them. But the only place I've heard of finding it at is a motorcycle shop. I also know of a place that may have a gas tank but you would have to e-mail me to get there phone number since I can't post it on here

I was thirteen, and Kathy (my oldest sister) was seven. At this age, I believed tractor farming was the only way, hot stuff -- and given a chance I probably would have used the tractor, Dad's first, a 1936 Model "A" John Deere, to go bring in the cows! And I think Dad was ready for some automation too. And so it was that we acquired a good, used J. I. Case, wire tie hay baler. In addition to a person to drive th ... [Read Article]
