Just completed cleaning trans. shifter housing,
replacing detent balls and springs very challinging
Can someone give advice or share experience in
best way to get these back in. Thanks - Allen R.

After your vocabulary is exhausted. I recentently put one of these detent springs and balls back in our WD. The trick is to place the spring in then the ball push them both down the hole with a thin punch. The slide the shaft over the ball, once the shaft is far enough over the ball to hold the ball in by itself remove the punch.
The punch has to be of a diameter smaller than the ball. The detents are put in one at a time between the shift rails. IE install a shift rail then a detent then another shift rail then a detent then the last rail.
