A friend of mine has a WD , new paint, runs good, tires fair, tractor looks sharp. It is a old WD with straight shifter, been changed to 12 volt. Now for the fun, I know what I think it is worth, what does everybody out there think?

Hard to say without more info on the mechanical condition. I would say $500 to $800.

location is alwys the biggest factor. IF I can drag it home with another tractor, I'd easily pay an extra $100. Drive home.. $250

i payed a 1000 for one that was painted very badly with a brush and the tires are just about gone, the engine clutch was stuck and the gear oil was low. The front wheels were being held onby a coter pin and the magneto was cobed up. i payed way to much but i can really complain the guy delivered it about 50 miles away, and the the egine runs like a top and he threw in a new manifold, the tractor sitting how it was, was really about 800 with a 200 dollar delivery charge. the tractor the way you describe it is worth about 1500 depending upon the paint job and other stuff.

Today's Featured Article - Timing Your Magneto Ignition Tractor - by Chris Pratt. If you have done major engine work or restored your tractor, chances are you removed the magneto and spark plug wires and eventually reached the point where you had to put it all back together and make it run. On our first cosmetic restoration, not having a manual, we carefully marked the wires, taped the magneto in the position it came off, and were careful not to turn the engine over while we had these components off. We thought we could get by with this since the engine ran perfectly and would not need any internal work. After the cleanup and painting was done, we began reassembly and finally came to t ...
