Friend has an AC with a belly mower. It seems the belly mower does not raise and lower as it should. I am not sure where to to check the oil for the hydraulic pump. He says that when ho goes across the yard the mower deck raises very fast and lowers very fast. Today at an idle the mower deck never moved. Any help !!!!! !!!!! Where do you put oil, and what type for the hydraulic pump

depends on what model. Look by the transmission shift lever. If it is a B or C model, you will see the serial number there. The B and C have the transmission, steering, and hydraulic oil combined in one cavity. the fill is by your left foot in the 1 inch plug in transmission case. use 20 wt oil, originally, now most people put trans-hydraulic oil (20wt), you can get at farm store or Wal Mart for $10, for 2.5 gallon.
---If you have a WD or a newer D series, things are different, post again.

I believe it is a C. It has the fill hole for the trans where you said. It was low on oil,but now full. When you try to raise the mower deck nothing happens. Anything I can check to find the problem?

Do you have the P.T.O. engaged when trying to lift the deck?
