I inherited an a-c C about ten years ago and we ran it for fun and the kids learned to drive stick shift on it, but when they crashed it into my box van I set it aside. Now I want to run my log splitter and I have no primary fire at the points. I have reviewed these pages and found much helpful information, wiring diagrams, and drawings to identify magneto types. You guys are pretty darn good.
So, where do I look? Why isn't my magneto producing sparks ? The points look good, I cleaned them. I suppose the condensor could be shorted ? Everything looks pretty good in there, the coil seems to be phenolic rather than tar :) The timing marks all jibe. It did run five or six years ago. But no spark. Are there parts to be cleaned or anticorrosed down below the points plate ?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

LL

LL,
Ya might just need a new set of points. And toss in a condenser too. Sounds like the mag is equipped with the better coil. If your C is equipped with a mag kill switch at the Ammeter box, make sure that isn't the culprit grounding out your spark. An easy way to tell is disconnect the kill circuit to the switch at the mag and see if she fires. If it does, dare's yer' culprit! Good Luck! If ya need any mag parts, we got em' in stock...

I WAS baffled by the one wire switch at the ammeter box ! I took it out and discovered it's true nature and tried for spark while the wire was off... no spark. The points and condensor basically LOOK new. Is there any kind of dummy's test I can put the condensor to for testing ?
It should show NO CONTINUITY from feed wire to ground ?
Thanks for replying.

I went through the points plate in the mag and cleaned and tightened and finally got fire.
Then no gas ! So several carb days later today it ran like a champ. I tooled around the yard a few times and guess what...
You experienced hands will guess what happened.
I nearly drove off my right wheel as the hidden rot there came to light :((
But I do need several ignition bits if I could figure out how to contact steveinNJ !
