Are parts still available for an AC backhoe? Like seals and packing for cylinders, regular maintenance items?

What years are you talking about? If it 's the Mark IV or Mark V, they were made by Henry backhoe and later was bought by AC. That also includes their TS 500 loader. You can find most of those parts from Minn Par in Minnesota or Pinnacle View Equipment in Walpole N.H. They are a distributor for MinnPar. I have the same style machine as listed above, what seals and packings do you need? Maybe I can provide you with the proper part numbers to ask for.

Frank G., I don't know very much about it, I read an ad for an Allis Chalmers backhoe, model 600 I believe. I have'nt called on it because I wasn't sure if I could get parts if it needed anything done to it.

They were not a bad machine. All the seals are available in generic forms from modern companies. The turn mechanism on the hoe (if it's the early version) resembles a hydraulic motor as opposed to the later style pistons that are used for "swing" control of the stick. Those hydraulic motors are hard to find, so make sure it works first. I have the mark IV and it still works fine (41 years old). Good Luck
