I believe the CA is a constant mesh transmission. If it jumps out of gear the dogs on the side of the gear and the dog that engages them are worn. I have always wondered if it would be possible to remachine them. It would make a little more backlash but probably not to noticeable. New gears are likely to be in the hundreds of dollars range and I don't know about the dog that engages it. Maybe someone else more familiar with CAs will post too.

Take the cover off the side of the trans and check the spring steel tensioner inside the cover to be sure it is not bent or broken.
