What size did they pull and will regualar pull plow work ok?

Jeff,
Last year I used a 2/12 pull plow behind my 51 CA in clay soil. Pulled fine in 2cnd until the hand clutch started slipping but that was because of oil leaks from the axel. Had to finish with an early Ford 2000 and the CA pulled much better with only one loaded tire than the Ford did with both tires loaded, wider tires, and weight on the back. I did pick up a 2/14 mounted AC plow this summer but have not tried it yet. If it ever stops raining I am anxious to see how it does.

I once had a CA with a pin hitch double 12 inch slat moldboard plow. The later CA's had the snap coupler with matching moldboard or disk plow. The CA handled the double 12 inch plow just fine in clay soil. The reason it did was because the Allis hydraulic system is so responsive. Since you can't take advantage of that feature with a pull plow, I would think a single 14 or 16 inch would be all a CA would handle in most soils. Personally, I would try to locate an Allis mounted plow and forget the pull plow.

I PULL A 2-14 ROLL-OVER PLOW WITH MY CA WITH NO EFFORT IN 2ND GEAR{3RD IS TOO FAST}. I ALSO PULL A 7' DISC WITH IT, AND A 10' HARROW. LOL BOB

I also plow with 2-14 in clay soil in 2nd gear works great. I also pull a 7 ft. disk in 3rd. Great little tractor. Both rear tires are loaded. Good luck tom
