Tractor serial number and motor serial number on left side of block behind carb tell the story. Possible a digit is not readable, I've seen such, but it would have to be a missing 1 at front i.e. WD142778, but that would still be a WD. If shifter is straight and motor has the plate on right side as mentioned elsewhere, its a WD. As an aside, I was told by a guy in Ms some time back, that less scrupulous used tractor salesmen would sometimes repaint WD's and decal them as 45's to get more $ for them - supposedly some even went to trouble to grind off s/n off rear in some extreme cases. Caveat Emptor.

I am new to this discussion forum but I got my Allis-Chalmers book out and according to the #'s you posted I came up with a 1950 WD also. The book says the serial # is on the top left differential brake housing. Is it possible that the differentail housing was changed, or the sheet metal was changed.

Stickers don't mean squat- engines are more difficult to change. WD engine has a removeable panel on the right side, WD45 engine has a solid cast right side. Differential serial number tells the whole story.
