how do I get the manifold off my wd 45?

Any recommedation on the best approach to loosening the nuts so I can remove the manifold?They seem to be rusted on and I am afraid I will twist the studs off. Then what would I do??

Appreciate it if you would share your secrets!!

USE BRASS NUTS ON THE STEEL STUDS. THIS WILL MAKE REMOVAL EASIER NEXT TIME LOL BOB

Similar to John's idea,but a little gentler, cut the nut with a Dremal tool or other such, on one side. That is cut about one third of it off, cutting downbeside the stud. I put stainless studs and nuts back on mine. Made the studs from rod and bolts I had around, cutting threads on my lathe.

I have recently removed manifolds from a WC, an Allis C and CA. All three of these tractors had nuts that looked so rusted they were frightening. I used a product called Kroil which can only be purchased from Kano labs. Sprayed it on, waited a few minutes and started removing them,using a little more Kroil as needed. Didn't twist off nor harm any of the studs or nuts. HTH

Kroil is great stuff! It's a little costly, but well worth it.

Heat the nuts with a torch until they're red hot and they will turn right off.

Hi, I usually have someone hold a heavy backing bar again one side of the nut and drive a sharp chisel into the opposite side to split the nut. A air hammer works great if you have one. Good luck, John in MO
