AC industial loader

Howdy,

I'm new to this board.
I'm usually at the Ford N board.
Anyway, I just got an AC industrial loader.
Can anyone tell me how to tell it's year and model.
I see there is a tag on the block, But it's kinda behind the starter. I haven't had a chance to get a good look at it. Will it give me that information?
Are there people on this board that know these loaders that might be able to answer questions in the future.
It runs and works good but has a crack in the oil pan. So the engine will need to be pulled. I did get an almost complete parts engine with it.

go to ibdozing.com ,then on the ALLIS discussion page and describe what you have. tell them the tire size, make of motor (diesel or gas) what kind of transmission , etc.
---does it articulate (bend in the middle) like a 345 or 605 (made by Allis construction division), or is it steer on one axle like a truck?? if might be a TL12, etc.

Don't know the make of the motor.
I was thinking it would be an Allis Chalmers motor.
I take it you are saying that's not necessarily the case?
Don't know the size either. It's a Big six, diesel.
Transmission, I'm at a lost there to. Doesn't have a clutch. Just put it in gear and go. Is that a Power Shift? I don't even know how many speeds it has. Plate by the shifter is not readable.
It doesn't articulate. Rear wheel do the steering.
The motor is also behind the driver.

it sounds like the large loaders ALLIS made maybe in the 1960 era? I think they were called TL series and were made by the Construction Division. I worked in the Construcion Division in the mid 1970s and by then they made the articulated units called 345, 605,645. Best bet is to go to www.ibdozing.com and ask the allis guys a few questions and ask for a picture of a TL.

I have found out that it is a TL-30D.
Know anything about one of these? Such as engine size.
I'm looking at maybe putting an engine out of a 2 1/2 military truck.
Wonder if that could be done with out to much trouble?
Seems I read some where the AC engines in the loaders were junk. You know anything about how they hold up?

Don't know if you can call it a tractor.
It's just a loader.
Has four wheels all the same size (about five foot tall).
It's a loader like you would find in the gavel pits loading the dump trucks.
