The manual for my D-14 indicates "Clutch (transmission): 10 qts. SAE 20" ...and.. "Transmission: 19 qts. E.P." Right now I'm concerned about the oil that the power director uses when in use. (by the way, what is 'E.P.'?) Are these separate oil resevoirs? Or does the "Transmission include the clutch volume? - But why the different visc.? Are these oil compartments filtered? Is it possible to change only the clutch oil?

I have a manual, and it's very informative except for basic things it seems to take for granted. I count at least 4 different drain plugs on the bottom of the tractor. The engine oil, of course is obvious. Which plug drains the 'power selector' or 'clutch transmission' oil? There is a plug on the bottom of a pan forward of the snap coupler and another immediately forward and above the coupler. Then another not too far rearward of the coupler. There are also 3 top caps as well. The most forward from the center is fitted with a filter cap on the right side. There is a top plug forward of the shifter and another just behind the shifter. The manual doesn't provide pictures or descriptions that help at all. I'm interested in changing the clutch/tran oil so I can be sure the hi-lo power selector is working to potential. Thanks for the help.

What they mean by the transmission clutch is the power director. Yes, it is a seperate reservoir from the transmission. EP is old terminology. Just use gear lube in it such as 80W-90 or 85W140 if you live in a hot climate. FOr the power director, use #20 non detergent oil or better yet use modern trans-hydraulic oil such as AGCO's power lube 821XL or one of the many other brands of similar product. Neither of these reservoirs is filtered.
