I found an Allis D-12, Series III for sale. It has 8 speeds and a Hi-Lo. I did not know this tractor had such a transmission. Is it good or bad? Any problems to look for? Asking price: $1650.

I know I'd grab it and run for that price if the tractor is in any decent condition.

Thanks for the information and help. Went to see the tractor and it would not stay in low range--kept popping out. It stayed in all gears pretty well in high range though. A basket case---hydraulics all messed up as well. Probably a $800 tractor--but owner seller thinks it is gold.

Clarence do you know if the person still has the D-12? Do you know where there are any other D-10 or D-12 III. I have a lot of parts if you are looking for anything. I also know where there are several earlier D-10s and D-12s. Thanks for responses.

Today's Featured Article - George's Fordson Major - by Anthony West (UK). This is a bit of a technical info to add on to the article about George's Major in the "A Towny Goes Plowing" article. George bought his Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for 200.00. There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken by Harold alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that the major was produced late 19 ... [Read Article]
