I have been working on getting these lights to work all day. New bulbs and wire. Still nothing. The generator is functioning well and the battery is being charged but no lights when the switch is in any position. I am resisting buying that $65 switch. Can I bypass the switch and have the lights on at all times when the tractor is running? Im open to suggestions.

Bill

being too obvious here, but if you are running a 6 volt pos ground system, you need to make sure your wire leading to the switch is from the NEG. side of the battery. I know this sounds a little stupid, but I can see where a person used to 12v would make that mistake....would probably make me stop and think.

Bill,
This may sound like a "no-brainer", but it happens all the time. Make sure the lamps are grounded correctly. If your wiring to the switch is correct, they should light if they're properly grounded and power is feeding to them. Also, we offer rebuilt/exchange OEM switches cheaper than the new replacements if you think there's an internal problem in the switch on the lamp side of the circuit. Make sure the switch tower isn't rusty where a bad connection may result also. Sometimes low voltage or a spike will blow a tube fuse at the end and not in the middle, so it may look like the fuse isn't blown when in fact it is. A simple test light will help ya there. Drop us a line if ya need any more info. Be more than happy to help ya out...

The fuse looks good. All the wiring is new. I will get a new fuse and try that. The switch is badly corroded that much I can tell you. Please email me with contact info so I can get in touch for a rebuilt switch. I might as well do it now. The worst part of the switch is on the side. There is a thin piece of some material wrapped in fine wire. That part is totally shot.

I may be stating the obvious and if so I'm sorry, but the fuse for the lights isn't missing or burned out is it?

Bill You can install a second switch like a toggle or a lever type and hook up the lights to it and leave the original for your hi/lo charge if that part still works If not you will have to put a regulator on to take care of the need for more amps when the lights are on OR buy that other switch which will be cheaper than the reg and getting it to work
