Hello, the HD 5's were manufactured from 1948 to 1955. Allis Chalmers built over 29,000 HD 5's. The 5's were powered by a General Motors 2-71 diesel engine. They were manual clutch, direct drive machines. They had double reduction final drives. The 5 dozers used 4 lower support rollers while the 5G, which was the loader model, used 5 lower support rollers. Lately, I've been giving some thought to repowering a 5 dozer with a cummins 4BT 3.9 engine. I think it would be a very nice swap. Good luck, Phil
