Can anyone tell me what fluids are required in a D15? I have purchased a 1962 D15 (Serial # D15 7868 D). I need to know what oils are used in the Gear box, Hydraulics, and power steering. There are three separate oil sticks. Two on top near the gear stick and one on the right side in front of the brake pedals.

Dad and I have a D-15. Serial 4065, which makes it a 1961 I think. Dipstick on right is Hydralics. Left front is power director. Left rear is trans. My book says use SAE 80 E.P. in trans. Use SAE 20W in other two. Think some use universal fluid for all. Power steering takes type A auto trans fluid. Hope this helps.

The old Type A transmission fluid was made from whale oil if I remember right and I don't think you can get it now. The modern version is Type F automatic transmission fluid (or power steering fluid). Some regular atf's will mess with seals in the power steering, hence the call for type A.

You wouldn't steal my thunder - shoot, I can hardly seem to work up a good rumble any more. Maybe some baked beans would help that ...! Feel free to tell folks about the website - it's there for use and I'm not picky about who tells who about it. I'm just glad to have the info up for folks that need it.
