I have a allis C, with a sickle bar on it I was mowing under my pasture fences, Had to back up a little while on a hill, I think I was still in gear,, went to shift it to go in reverse, and the thing stalled, tried it again, and it does it again, I cant get it in neuatral either,, It seems to be stuck in 3rd gear, at least I was able to drive it off the hill, Is this a common problem with these, I see there is a plate on the side of the transmission on the right side, if I take this round plate off will I see the gears and maybe be able to get it unstuck,, thanks for the help in advance.Pat

thisis not a common problem on the B or C. yes you can pull the round plate off nad see most gears, and the shift forks. i would asssume a shift fork is "stuck" or a pin broke. pull it off and look. if you move the sift lever or pry gears around, you may have to reposition the shift forks and line them up as you put the plate back on.

I WOULD PULL OUT THE SHIFTER ROD AND GO IN THERE WITH O SCREWDRIVER OR DRIFT PIN TO TRY TO MOVE THE GEARS. THAT WAY YOU DON'T HAVE TO DRAIN THE TRANS AND REAR
