Just got home a 1948 AC C. This particular model has hydraulics, magneto, radiator shutters, and a complete 6 volt system. Somebody made a pretty good snowplow on it, but when I was driving it home on the dirt road I hit some chatter bumps and the wheels wobbled back and fourth. It stopped when I hit smooth dirt again. Then I tracked the problem to the gear box the steering wheel is hooked to. Is there a way to somehow 'take out' the slop or is a new part needed? I'm a red guy that's getting to know the orange ones.
Thanks,
ThatOtherGuy

Remove the starter and there is a setscrew with a locknut. Jack the front of the tractor off the ground slightly and turn the setscrew in as you turn the stearing wheel back and fourth. Adjust the screw untill it starts to turn hard and then back it off untill it is just free moving. If you still have slop you will need to rebuild the stearing box if you want the slop removed. If the seal is bad you might want to pack it with gun grease untill you can get a chanch to rebuild it.
