Last year my dad passed away and left me in charge of his 5045; and wanted me to restore. Does anyone have a paint number for this modle tractor. It was bought new in 1985.

Chuck, Hope you've found the answers to your questions by now. I just today came across this message you posted in Sept. Any Agco brand tractor dealer should be able to provide you with the proper paint and whatever parts you could possibly want. Also, plenty of parts available used from salvage yards. These tractors were built in Italy by Fiat, I understand, and today Fiat (Agco) owns most american brand tractor companies including Case New Holland. The most critical failure point I've seen on these tractors is the engine oil pump. Apparently the 'idiot light' sending unit is set so low that the bearings wear out before the owner knows the oil pump is too weak. Get a repair manual, find the minimum acceptable pressure, install a pressure GAUGE, always start the tractor at slow idle (no ether EVER) and let it continue at low idle until the oil pressure is up to normal, always use diesel rated motor oil of one brand and change it at or before the times recommended in the book, use a top quality DIESEL battery. With good maintenance, these engines should be good for at least 10,000 hours before major repairs. Best of success with your restoration.
