I have a Allis wd with a FMJ mag on it. i have recently removed a 12 volt coil someone had mounted on it and drilled a hole in the houseing and ran a wire to the cap. so i put new a coil in it and filled the hole with silicone. As i was putting the cap back on it i notice that the rotor shaft was lose. i was wounder what wore out on them the rotor shaft or the cap.
THANKS.

Ian, We service and sell F/M mags & parts. There could be a couple reasons why the fiber gear shaft that the rotor connects to gets loose. First, if the shaft siezes in the bushing that is in the cover assy, the bushing will be spinning in the cap instead of the shaft. This will obviously wear the bushing hole larger causing it to become wobbely. The other reason is the bushing itself is worn to where the shaft wobbles. In the case of the bushing spinning, the cover should be replaced. In some cases, if the hole isn't worn out of round, some epoxy and "stakeing" around the bushing tightening the cap around the bushing will work temporarily for a while. If the bushing itself is just worn, it can be pressed out and a new one pressed in...
