Just recently got a 39 B. The engine was stuck when I got it. Let set for a couple of days with tranny fluid in the cylinders. After breaking loose changing oil & all that jazz. We pulled it and away she went. I can pull it fine & start, but if I crank, she'll pop and time or two then I'm wore out. Any suggestions. Will replace wires & plugs first thing. THanks in advance .

Make sure you have metal core wires (not resistor type) and non resistor plugs (Autolite 295.)

Your arm will fall off trying to start a Magneto fired tractor with resistor plugs and wires.

I would sugest the possibility of timing. When I was a teenager we had a model B as well as a WD overhauled. We puled them both the first time to start but when the mechanic finished timing them they hand cranked fine without severak hours of running them. When Henry finished working on an Allis It crank started and it only took a tug on the crank not a hard spin.

operate the tractor for a few hours to get the rings to loosen up and seat into the walls. lot of recently rebuilt motors can not be cranked by hand. after several hours of use this might change. normally the starter will do it, but by hand, no way.
