I read some messages awhile back about using the right plugs in an AC B solving rough running problems. I have a battery ignition B with Champion J8C plugs and carbon fiber cored plug wires. While it starts great and runs ok it doesn't sound quite right. Could my plugs and wires be causing the problems? They are basically new.

Chris, I agree with the other guys, Autolite 295's and the right plug wires. Might also use a coil with an internal resistor.(NAPA-Echlin # IC64SB). Dale

I know they are not factory looking , but I have several Allis's and I use a set of wires off of a very early willies jeep. The ends are allready on the wires all you have to do is install.I have had real good luck with these.

yes, it can cause some mis fire and "dont sound right". it may however run o.k. most guys now use the Autolite 295 and copper wires. this is more important on a mag fired unit than a distributor, but still a good idea on either.

Steve,

Thanks for the response. I read in the past postings Autolite 295 for mag. and 303 for distributor. I don't know what the difference is but I wonder what I should use. I have a distributor--oh, and I should note mine was converted to 12 volt though I don't guess that effects the spark plug wires. I'm going to get some copper plug wires.

Use the 295's for both distributor and magneto. THe 303 are a resistor type plug and are a colder heat range than the 295.
