Hello. At the local vo-tech school that I go to someone brought in an old Allis Chalmer 190 XT and it had a pretty bad leak at the shifter for the transmission and where the 3-point hitch meets up with the back end. It leaks a good bit of tractor hydrolic fluid in a short amount of time. The teacher wanted me to find out how hard it would be to fix and what would be involved in this fix. What parts need to be changed/looked at and about how much would these parts cost? Anything that anyone can tell me about this leak is very much appreciated. Thanks!!!!! !

This also sounds like what happened to my 190. Does the transmission fluid on the dip stick increase as the hydro fluid deceases. If so the seal between the two is bad and is allowing the hydro fluid to dump into the trans fluid. What it is doing if this is the case it is over flowing and coming out the top of the sifter and the back end has a over flow port and it is located on top of the rams just under the seat which makes it apear the leak is coming from thier.

I'm not sure what you mean by a pretty bad leak at the shifter for the transmission". Do you mean it's comming out the top cover of the transmission or is it leaking up where the shift lever is? Or is it leaking at the power director valve on the side of the hydraulic resevoir? This is fairly easy to get at.
If the leak at the 3 pt is around the shafts, its retty easy. Remove the upper arms anslide it to one side and repalce the o rings. If the bushing are worn out it will be a little more difficult. If the leak is around the housing it gets into heavy lifting. Hydraulic fluid should not be leaking at the rear. The hydraulic reservoir is in front of the transmission.
