I am new to buying tractors.
I am looking at buying a AC D17 Tractor. It has a price of $2750 with 5' cutter. Is this a good tractor for mowing and general purpose use? Is this a reasonable price for this? Is this a good tractor? What are some things to look for or questions to ask?

Thanks

Yes, Bob, this does sound like a pretty good price, if as Jim is saying the condition of the tractor is good. You might also want to make sure the hand clutch is tight. Some items to consider are whether it has a 3-point on it, the hydraulics, and condition of the transmission.

The condition is the fenders are rusted through. The rear tires are good. One front tire is good. Runs good. Unaware of any serious leaks. Doesn't have a 3pt hitch.

I have two of these tractors. One is on propain and the other is gas. I have a small farm were these tractors work. The propain D17 pulls a 5x5 round bailer with no problem, I like the low and high range hand clutch for bailing hay or bush cutting. If you can find this tractor for that price don't pass it up.

Today's Featured Article - Timing Your Magneto Ignition Tractor - by Chris Pratt. If you have done major engine work or restored your tractor, chances are you removed the magneto and spark plug wires and eventually reached the point where you had to put it all back together and make it run. On our first cosmetic restoration, not having a manual, we carefully marked the wires, taped the magneto in the position it came off, and were careful not to turn the engine over while we had these components off. We thought we could get by with this since the engine ran perfectly and would not need any internal work. After the cleanup and painting was done, we began reassembly and finally came to t ...
